Humble Beginnings

This is a picture of the Garage where Rorion Gracie taught his early Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lessons when he first came to the States. Many great Martial Artists trained in this modest garage although the general public and even a significant segment of the Martial Art community was unaware of the Gracies or BJJ  until Rorion came up with the idea of the UFC as a vehicle to showcase His family's system and his brother Royce demonstrated the effectiveness of GJJ/BJJ in those early events.

This picture illustrates that You don't need a large commercial facility to train or teach as some feel is necessary. In fact, if someone demands a big spic & span chrome plated studio to train in or to take lessons, then I'd say that individual is not very serious and lacks the will and drive to truly learn and become an accomplished martial artist, fighter or successful in real-world self-defense .
